Joist End Support

Two years ago, Mike Reardon, from Gallery Loft Conversions, designed and patented the Joist End Support.

In conjunction with Simpson Strong-Tie, it has now been manufactured, tested and has been passed by TRADA & Building Control Regulations. The JES has been used on two loft conversions with great success. It is ideal for truss conversions and timber frame loft conversions.

Manufactured in mild steel the "I" beam end support is designed to reinforce the end or bearing point of the engineered timber joist where a diagonal cut has been employed.

Use of this end support would alleviate the necessity to install large, heavy R.S.J's in order to carry an independent floor. In turn this saves time & expense, the need for heavy lifting machinery is eradicated and costs for steel and plant hire are saved, together with the time required for steel installation.

Additionally, the party wall act would not apply as no work to party walls are necessary - avoiding time delays caused by adjoining owners and potential costly disputes are completely avoided.

In short the end support will:

1. Reduce construction costs.
2. Speed up build time.
3. Avoid the need for heavy plant.
4. Avoid the use of cumbersome steelwork.
5. Avoid work to party walls.
6. Gives the loft total floor space.
