Q. Can I have a free quotation?
A. YES - we simply need to visit your property to take initial measurements of your existing loft space in order to determine if a conversion is possible. Please contact our office by email (gallerylofts@fsmail.net) or Tel: 01685 881555 requesting a sales visit and we will be happy to arrange a suitable appointment.
Q. When will we receive the quotation?
A. We will send an itemised quotation along with a sketched floor plan which is a guideline on what can be achieved in your loft space. You will receive the quotation within 5 working days from the date of your sales visit.
Q. How do I know if my property is suitable for a conversion?
A. The main issue of knowing if your property is suitable for a conversion is the head clearance in your existing loft space. To meet Building Regulations there must be a minimum head clearance of at least 2 metres in the highest point of your loft. Ideally you need to determine if you have this require head clearance before you arrange a sales visit.
Q: I have not got the required head clearance in my loft can it still be converted?
A: YES - if your property is detached. Gallery have vast experience in re-trussing modern roofs. We are able to higher the apex of the roof to create enough head room for your new living space. Please see our Re-truss details which can be viewed via our home page or contact the Gallery office for further information.
Q: How can I be sure that the design suits my needs?
A: Your first contact will be with our Sales Director, Gareth Edwards. He will help you to incorporate any specific requirements you may have into a design that will ensure you get the most from the additional living space. We go to great lengths to produce designs which are sympathetic to the character of your existing building.
Q: Can I see a completed loft conversion?
A: YES - Gallery will be happy to show you one of our many recently completed conversions in your area. Alternatively, why not take a look at one of our virtual tours?
Q: What type of staircase do you use?
A: At Gallery Lofts we have our own joinery so there should be no problem with the design or fitting of your staircase. Our designers will discuss the best options for your project. We take the greatest care to comply with current regulations.
Q: Tell me about the floor?
A: We use a fully independent floor of steel beams. Our engineers calculate the splice details for the building control department. We may incorporate a mesh cradle and fire blanket if specified by the building control officer. At Gallery we use a tri-iso insulation which is fixed to the rafters, battened and then boarded. This provides the correct insulation and ventilation.
Q: What about fire regulations?
A: Fire regulations apply to conversions which provide habitable accommodation on a second floor. We also fit mains wired interlinking smoke alarms and door closures on all habitable rooms.
Q: Tell me about the electrics.
A: A standard loft bedroom is fitted with 4 X double sockets, 4 X lights. Our design team will work to accommodate all your specific requirements when on site.
Q: What type of plumbing can I expect?
A: At Gallery, our standard loft bedroom would be fitted with a radiator connected to your existing heating system. If you do not have a combination boiler, there may be problems with water pressure. Gallery currently install boilers in 70% of our conversions. Our pricing structures are 30% lower than British Gas and are competitive as the plumbers are already on site.
